Shirley Drake - Director
Welcome to the C. Ray Williams Early Childhood Center. The center has been in operation for over 25 years. During the 2017-2018 school year, the programming and operation will undergo many changes.
The first change is that we will welcome five kindergarten classrooms. Due to the elementary schools’ bulging enrollment, we have moved kindergarten units from each elementary to ease the overcrowding of classrooms. Kindergarten families will be notified by the enrollment center as to which building their child will attend. The WCS Enrollment Center is located at 675 South Yearling Road in the Walter Armes Learning Center from 8 AM – 4 PM.
The second change that has occurred is that the Child Development Council of Franklin County, which operated three classrooms of Head Start to three and five-year-olds, has moved to make room for kindergarten units. Please contact their main office for more details at 614-221-1709.
The Pre-K program is also experiencing some changes. The Oho Department of Education notified the district that our ECE grant would no longer fund three-year-olds as of September 30, 2016. All families must qualify under grant guidelines. This program operates Tuesday-Friday from 8 AM – 4 PM for most classrooms. There is a limited number of ½ slots for the 2016-2017 school year.
The only program that has not changed in programming is the Whitehall Early Childhood Education Program. This is a half day program that operates Tuesday-Friday. There is a morning session from 8-10:45 AM and afternoon session from 12:00-2:45 PM. This program serves children three to five years of age. There are eight children that are typically developing and eight children that are identified with learning challenges.
All preschool enrollment is completed at the center.
We look forward to serving our families in the Whitehall community.
